MEDIAL Plugins for Moodle - Quick Start
Below are instructions on how to install the MEDIAL Moodle Plugin Set and use this in conjunction with our trial MEDIAL instance.
This provides you with an experience identical to running the Plugin with your own MEDIAL instance without having to install MEDIAL on your network or purchase MEDIAL or MEDIALite.
It is perfect for organizations looking to test drive the Plugin and later either run MEDIAL in the Cloud or install MEDIAL On Premise
Installation:
Go to the MEDIAL Plugin set page on Moodle Plugins: https://moodle.org/plugins/browse.php?list=set&id=65
These are the MEDIAL Plugins available. You don’t necessarily need to install all of the Plugins, below is a summary of why you may need each one:
Installing the MEDIAL Video Streaming Activity Plugin:

Log in using your Moodle Plugins site username and password and then select your current Moodle version

First Click on the MEDIAL Video Streaming Activity Plugin. Click on Install Now

Follow on Screen prompts to complete Installation of this Plugin

At this stage, you can configure the Plugin Settings, we will install the other Plugins later on in this article if you require them
Configuring the Plugin:

Log into Moodle as Administrator

Navigate to Site Administration > Plugins > Plugins Overview

Click on Settings where you see the "mod_helixmedia" plugin
-
Type in URL, key and secret that was issued to you over e-mail, into the settings page

MEDIAL LTI Launch URL: https://na1upload.medialibrary.com/Lti/Launch

MEDIAL Consumer Key: Sent securely over e-mail to you
-
MEDIAL Shared Secret: Sent securely over e-mail to you
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you require another key and secret click here

Click Save at base of page
Testing the MEDIAL Video Streaming Activity Plugin:
You can now access the MEDIAL Activity in your Moodle

Log in as a Teacher and Navigate to a Course Page

Click Turn editing on
-
Click Add an activity or resource
-
Select the MEDIAL Activity
-
Click the Add Media button to access MEDIAL's functions
-
Choose the Option you wish to follow and add a media item to your Activity
Installing the Other MEDIAL Plugins

Now Install MEDIAL Video Streaming Assignment Activity Plugin by clicking on Install Now

Follow on Screen prompts to complete Installation of this Plugin

Now Install EITHER the MEDIAL ATTO Editor Plugin by clicking on Install Now

OR: the MEDIAL TinyMCE Editor Plugin based on the Default Text Editor you use in your Moodle

NOTE: To find out which is your default Editor in Moodle:

Go to: Home / ► Site administration / ► Plugins / ► Text editors / ► Manage editors
Follow on Screen prompts to complete Installation of your chosen Editor Plugin

Make the MEDIAL button appear on your Text Editor
IF using ATTO - to make the MEDIAL button appear on the Editor
Go to: Home / ► Site administration / ► Plugins / ► Text editors / ► Atto HTML editor / ► Atto toolbar settings
And, add the highlighted item (including the comma) to your configuration:

IF using TinyMCE - to make the MEDIAL button appear on the Editor
Go to: Home / ► Site administration / ► Plugins / ► Text editors / ► TinyMCE HTML editor / ► General settings
And, add the highlighted item (including the comma) to your configuration:
wrap,formatselect,wrap,bold,italic,wrap,bullist,numlist,wrap,link,unlink,wrap,image,helixmedia

Now Install MEDIAL Video Feedback Plugin by clicking on Install Now

Follow on Screen prompts to complete Installation of this Plugin

All done! Now test the other Plugins using the below
Testing the Other MEDIAL Plugins:
Log in as a Teacher and Navigate to a Course Page

Click Turn Editing On

Click Add and Activity or Resource
-
Select Assignment from the Activity List
Type in Name of Assignment and the click on MEDIAL button on Editor

A new window will launch that will allow you to upload a new video item
-
Complete Upload process
-
Your new Media item will appear in the Text Editor area
-
Click Save and Return to Course at base of page
-
